Planning Safe Takeoffs and Airport Departures

Palo Alto Airport (PAO)

Wednesday, July 14, 2010, 7:00 pm

We pilots spend a lot of time thinking about and practicing landings, but what about takeoffs, and in particular, the critical two minutes between rotation and achieving pattern altitude? This seminar will take a close look at takeoff and departure, both VFR and IFR. Topics include takeoff briefings, runway lengths, aircraft loading and performance, obstacle assessment, rates of climb and climb gradients, departure minimums, IFR departure geometry and procedures, noise abatement, and emergency planning.
